28 March 2011

Today is the first day I started to learn English in REA center that specializes in IELTS. It was really interesting. My teacher's name is Thomas who was an examiner of IELTS some years ago. His teaching method really encouraged me. Firstly, he began the lesson by the introduction himself and requested every student to speak about his/her purpose of participating this English course. Most of us want to taking an overseas academic course, for example: a PhD course, a master course, in UK or Australia. Later, he corrected the mistake for us. Interestingly, he called what we talk in english is "vinlish". Do you know why? Vin = Vietnam, lish = english. "Vinlish" means the english talked by Vietnamese. Additionally, he taught us how to study english, especially IELTS that is one of the most popular test in the world. Also, he instructed us some sources for practicing reading and listening skills. In conclusion, I think his advice is extremely practical with me and I will try my best to get my target band score: 6.5.

  1. I think all verbs are past simple. You are reciting all things that happened
-Today is the first day => Today was the first day
-what we talk in english: what english we are talking (I think it's more common)

6.5 is quite high score compared to the target of this class (5.5-6.0) but I think you can get it. Try more hard :)
